The overwhelmingness of the climate crisis can so often leave me utterly paralysed. There's only one thing that lifts me out of it, and that's the reinforcement of my own agency. That each of has, to varying degrees, the capacity to choose every day how to respond to this crisis through grassroots involvement, advocacy, protest, the careers we pick or environmental lifestyle changes, keeps me going. We must keep choosing to live as though the world is as it should be, to show it how it can be, and never give up. If despair overwhelms and we can only sink into the doom, we lose the greatest freedom we have, which is to choose to fight.
